HOTEL ST GEORGE INVITES ITS GUESTS TO THE OPENING OF THE “GALLERIE D’ITALIA” IN PIAZZA LA SCALA
Hotel St. George is pleased to inform its guests about the opening ceremony of the “Gallerie d’Italia” (Galleries of Italy) on 3 November 2011 in Piazza La Scala. The museum, owned by the banking group Intesa Sanpaolo, will house the prestigious 19th -century collection of the “Fondazione Cariplo”, which includes 242 paintings and sculptures.
The collection highlights the following Italian movements and artists:
- “Romanticism” (natural and urban landscapes, particularly of the city of Milan) with works by Luigi Bisi, Carlo and Giuseppe Canella, Giovanni Migliara, Francesco Hayez and Giuseppe Molteni;
- “Il Risorgimento” (the Resurgence) with works by Domenico and Gerolamo Induno, Sebastiano De Albertis and Eleuterio Pagliano;
- ” Naturalism” with works by Leonardo Bazzaro, Mosè Bianchi, Filippo Carcano, Eugenio Gignous, Emilio Gola and Pompeo Mariani;
- “Divisionism” with works by Emilio Longoni, Angelo Morbelli, Gaetano Previati and Giovanni Segantini.
